The 2006 Chimney Rock Challenge
Chimney Rock Challenge was covered by Brian, Dave,Travis, Laura, Khanh, Jeff,
and Mary. It was a corporate event that had a hike up Chimney Rock and an
obstacle course. The IAS team was invited to compete in the obstacle course.
Sadly, EMS personnel tend to be highly aggressive and competitive Type A
personalities. We have pictures and video evidence of the shenanigans. In one
of the videos we watched Mary take an ungraceful tumble on the course. In the
sequel, we watched in awe as she sabotaged Jeff, who was on a different team.
Thankfully we saw Jeff pick himself up and continue with as much dignity as he
could muster. Mary was very proud of her team’s win, and then we reviewed the
tape. She has shown no remorse!
It was a great event with no major injuries. At one point, several people
attending the event decided to participate in stretcher luge, in which they took
turn riding down a big hill on our wheeled cot. An enjoyable time was had by
those attending the event, and the IAS personnel covering it. It was nice
meeting such a fantastic group of people. Thanks for having us out!
